2018 TB Gelding

16 hh

If you're looking for an athletic, good sized gelding that's been there and done that, Manny fits the bill. As an off the track thoroughbred turned ranch/show horse, this good looking gelding had 30 starts on the racetrack, retiring in spring of 2022 with earnings of over $61,000 to his credit, including several wins.

Since then, we've enjoyed having Manny as part of our family, and after a brief letdown after his stint as a racehorse, we've thrown him into a variety of jobs. From moving cows and checking ditches in the Colorado mountains to showing in about everything, including low hunter/jumper classes, showmanship, ranch versatility, sorting, obstacle challenges, and he's been quietly started on the barrel pattern. After just 5 months off the track, he ended the year by winning the Amateur Working Ranch division at the 2022 Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover in Lexington, Kentucky.

All that said, Manny shines the brightest out on the trail, and he's a steady mount going up, down, or through about anything-front or back of the line, or on his own. His free walk is pleasant to ride on a loose rein while still covering lots of ground. An added bonus: the never ending hustle and bustle at the racetrack made Manny used to a wide range of atmospheres- such vehicles coming at him from all directions, pedestrians, riding in traffic, public announcing, bicycles. All that exposure is why this gelding is so fun to ride out on the trail or in odd circumstances. When our truck broke down in the middle of the night during a rainstorm, Manny was the one we saddled up to ride the 6 miles back home while ponying the other horse.

Manny is great to haul, easy to load and unload, he'll also stand at the rail or tied to a bush as long as needed, and great for the farrier. If he sees you climb a fence or rock, he self-initiates a side pass to meet you for easier mounting. We welcome any pre-sale rides or vet inspections, and please feel free to call with questions. This is truly a unique horse with all kinds of possibilities ahead of him, and we want to find the best home for him!
