Arizona is a stunning buckskin mare who encompasses all the best attributes of both the draft horse and quarter horse that we all love. She is a perfect mix of a great temperament and strength from the draft side paired with the versatility and athleticism of the Quarter Horse.

Arizona rides both english and western. She has been used for actual ranch work plus has been very competitive in all the ranch horse events. She is very well broke and has been ridden by all levels of riders. Neck reins, good turn arounds, great stops, lopes off on the correct leads, side passes, are just a few of her skills.
She would make an exceptional western dressage horse.

Arizona has been extensively trail ridden: crosses water, handles uneven and rough terrain with ease, goes over logs and through thick brush, and rides great in groups or confident to ride out alone.

Her sweet demeanor and wonderful ground manners will easily make her a favorite in the barn.

Howdy! I am Scotty Nicks, a lifelong Hoosier Horseman. I would like to thank the Best Of The West team and Ike Sankey for accepting my consignments to their prestigious sale.
Since I was eight, I have never been without a horse or a pony. I grew up showing contest horses. I tell people “I ran barrel horses till I got bigger than the barrel”. My three children also did all the contesting events and were very active in 4-H. My girlfriend showed Appaloosas and was the 1996-1997 Miss Appaloosa America. I also competed in roping, western pleasure, reining, and team penning.
I owned the International Team Penning Journal Magazine for several years and centered my time with putting on team pennings, selling penning horses, supplying cattle, and giving clinics.
I have always been interested in the racehorse industry so I became a thoroughbred and quarter horse trainer. I collected 31 firsts, 42 seconds, and 44 thirds in just a few seasons while owning Heart of Kentucky Trailer Sales in Shepherdsville, KY selling new and used aluminum horse trailers.
After being in the horse business for over forty years, I have learned a lot and figured out what horses will be best for people with and without experience.
I hope you will be more than satisfied with this group of horses and mule that I have selected. I am honored and excited to present them at this sale.
