Let's get something straight right up front...
Absolutely NO short jokes;-)
Tarzan has never paid attention to anyone who pointed out his height. As far as he's concerned, he's ten feet tall, and after spending years with him, we've learned not to argue. Pound for pound, he has more heart, grit, and try than just about any horse we've ever owned. His confidence is contagious, his personality is larger than life, and somehow his big brown eyes convince everyone to fall for him!
If Tarzan looks familiar, there's a good reason. We owned him three years ago, we sold him at Cowgirl Cadillacs in 2023, and recently had the opportunity to welcome him back home. We couldn't feel luckier.
His previous owners bought him for their twin daughters to learn, gain confidence, and enjoy every ride along the way. That's exactly what Tarzan delivered. After helping them build the skills and confidence they needed to pursue high level reining, Tarzan found his way back to us. The best part? He stepped off the trailer like he'd never left. Same horse. Same personality. Same dependable mind. Same versatility. He never missed a beat.
Tarzan has always been one of our favorite lesson horses because he meets people where they are. His smooth gaits, easy transitions, soft face, and excellent steering help riders feel successful, while his athleticism keeps experienced riders smiling. Ask him for the fancy stuff, and he'll happily show off with a huge stop, pretty spins, and clean lead changes. But if you're not ready for that, he knows and isn't going to do anything to surprise you. At 11 years old, he has had the life experience to become a great problem solver, and has proven himself SAFE!
Need to take a few months off from riding? No problem. Tarzan has proven time and time again that he doesn't need to be ridden every day to stay the same honest partner. We've put beginners on him after long breaks, hauled him to ranch horse shows for young riders, and trusted him in busy warm-up pens surrounded by dozens of horses. Whether he's carrying a 9-year-old through her ranch riding pattern or quietly packing someone down the trail, he approaches every job with the same quiet, willing attitude.
If you're looking to find a new hobby... team roping is one of Tarzan's absolute favorite things. He can roll around the corner on the heel side, rate naturally, put you exactly where you need to be, and stand like a statue when you're stretched tight to a big steer. Big, fast cattle don't intimidate him one bit. In fact, he enjoys the challenge! If you’re looking for a breakaway horse, that transition would be seamless!
Outside the arena, Tarzan has spent years making annual trips out west, gathering cattle, doctoring, branding, and covering country. He's sure-footed, dependable, and genuinely enjoys having a job. Whether you're headed into the branding pen, down a mountain trail, or into town, he's the same confident horse every time.
But more than anything, Tarzan is simply fun to be around.
He's the first one to greet you, the horse that makes people laugh without trying, and the kind that quickly becomes everyone's favorite in the barn. His personality fills every space he's in and he makes every single ride enjoyable.
There's a reason we kept him for years the first time, and there's a reason we were thrilled to have the opportunity to own him again. Horses like Tarzan don't come through the barn very often. They teach, they build confidence, they work hard, they make memories, and they leave a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to swing a leg over them.
Now, he's ready to do it all again for someone new. Reach out with any questions about Tarzan, we can't wait to share more!
