2020 AQHA Gelding

15.2 hh

‘A good horse is never a bad color’ perfectly describes Bucky. While he may be a simple bay, he’s the kind that earns admiration for his character, ability, and reliability rather than just the color of his coat. The definition of an honest broke horse, he’s the kind that makes his rider feel comfortable from the moment they swing a leg over. Whether you’re a seasoned hand or an amateur wanting a trustworthy partner, Bucky is the kind of true, dependable horse that’s getting harder and harder to find.

Reins swinging, head low, a little pitter patter trot… if that sounds like the type of ride you like, you’ll love Bucky. Bucky has a true, old western style neck rein which is awesome, but he also rides so naturally off your seat and leg that you could just about ride him exclusively from them alone. He has an excellent stop – just quietly say ‘woah’ and he applies the brakes. He has effortless transitions and a rocking horse lope. Bucky softens nicely into the bridle and guides around quietly wherever you point him. And, like any broke horse should, he side passes, pivots, and spins nicely. And no, you don’t have to be any sort of top hand to get him to do any of this either... sit up there like you belong and he’ll make you look good!

Off property and outside of the arena, Bucky remains a solid gentleman. The first day I owned him I was riding him bareback around the farm in a halter and lead rope. We rode past the loud scary tractor, past the fence with crazy horses running full speed up to see him and navigated around the uber friendly dogs at his feet that just had to come along for the ride. On the trail Bucky is surefooted and confident. He will lead or follow without a care, cross all obstacles without worry, and most importantly stands patiently for the group beer brakes!

Bucky is the kind of horse that’s easy to enjoy being around. He’s quiet and well-mannered in the barn, is always easy to catch, and has a friendly, goofy gelding personality that makes him a favorite out in the field with his buddies. He is kind, uncomplicated, and the same pleasant horse to handle day in and day out.
Horses like Bucky are hard to come by and harder to forget! Come out and meet this special guy for yourself – you won’t want to miss him.
